Cancer cachexia is a complex condition in which patients often experience reduced appetite, food aversion and hence marked weight loss. Cancer cachexia is a multifactorial syndrome characterized by involuntary weight loss, associated muscle wasting, fatigue, and systemic inflammation. Unlike simple malnutrition, cachexia is not fully reversible through increased food intake alone. The American Cancer Society has identified cachexia as one of the significant unmet needs in cancer treatment.
Cancer cachexia remains a high-burden condition with no current effective treatments available, despite strong regulatory and payer recognition of the unmet need.
~600,000 U.S. patients are “diagnosed” with cancer cachexia at initial presentation. (2024 ref) Although a modest percent of patients have been observed to have cachexia at cancer diagnosis, roughly >60% of cancer patients are observed (per BMI criteria) to have cachexia within approximately the next 12 months.
Cachexia patients are reluctant to take supplemental calories but strongly desire effective pain relief. Cancer cachexia negatively affects quality of life (QoL) and increases symptom burden.

NT1000™ is a product for moderate to severe pain which contains unique structured nutrients in
a readily digestible format which we believe will deliver approximately 100 kcal in addition to
effective pain relief for cancer cachexia patients.
NT1000 is a readily digestible formulation as a small volume oral liquid. In a Phase I trial in
healthy volunteers the NT1000 product candidate was well tolerated. The trial also
demonstrated that the analgesic component was well absorbed with a slight reduction of peak
levels and comparable AUC.
